This week the TV Broadcast industry came to the west coast for the Western Broadcast Engineering Convention. Sony, a sponsor of the event and premiere exhibitor, selected LiveCast's Pro Pack and HeavyMeta solution to showcase their high-end professional XDCAM cameras.
Sony and LiveCast have partnered to develop an automated metadata assignment system that was initially unveiled at NAB last spring, called HeavyMeta. The HeavyMeta solution is integrated with all of LiveCast applications and with Sony's XDCAM cameras.
News teams in the field rarely have time to enter metadata into the camera before shooting. With LiveCast's HeavyMeta, an assignment can be sent from the news desk as an email attachment, which is then picked up by the LiveCast application and sent via direct WiFi to the Sony camera. When the live camera feed is started, accurate metadata originally sent from the news desk is captured and available when broadcasting live to air, or stored with the file when archived -- dramatically improving workflow efficiencies.
Attendees representing almost all major broadcasters in the US and Canada enthusiastically tried out the HeavyMeta system, along with LiveCast Pro Pack giving it a thumbs up. LiveCast will be officially launching the system with our new iPhone version of HeavyMeta, Sony, and with our 4G networking partners.
